Pellet storage requires special care because they are easily damaged. To maintain their quality and performance, pellets must be kept free of dust and moisture. If your pellets get dusty, it could clog your stove and reduce its efficiency. And if exposed to moisture, the pellets may swell, which affects combustion quality and could even make them unusable. That’s why it’s important to choose a dry and well-ventilated location.
The ideal solution is to store your pellets indoors in a dry area for best preservation. You can stack the pellet bags directly on the wooden pallet they came on. If you would rather not clutter your living space, consider storing them in a garage, utility room, laundry room or pantry. If you prefer to keep them outdoors, you can use a garden shed or outbuilding. In that case, we recommend covering the bags with a waterproof tarp for extra protection.
You can also keep a smaller supply of pellets near your fire area in a stylish storage solution that complements your fireplace area and makes life easier by saving you trips back and forth.
There are several types of pellet storage options:
Steel pellet containers:
Most pellet containers are equipped with a drawer for easy collection of pellet dust. They can hold one to three 15kg bags of pellets depending on the model.
Dixneuf offers three different pellet container volumes:
- large capacity to store up to 55kg of pellets, i.e. more than three bags of pellets;
- medium capacity for up to two bags of pellets,
- and compact for just one discreet bag of pellets.
